What Is Computer?
What Is Computer?

A computer is a device or machine that follows instructions from a hardware or software programme to carry out tasks, calculations, and operations. It has the capacity to accept input data, process that data, and then generate outputs.

Computers can also save information on the appropriate storage medium for later use and retrieve it as needed.

Modern computers are electronic devices that can be used for a wide range of activities, such as web browsing, document writing, video editing, application creation, video game playing, etc. They combine hardware components that enable the system to perform certain tasks with software programmes, which are sets of instructions that enable a computer to do more complex tasks integrated hardware and software components to execute applications and offer a range of solutions.

The Most Important Computer Components

Processor (CPU)

the element responsible for processing and carrying out inputs from both hardware and software.

Motherboard

a mainboard that connects all the other hardware devices and components on a basic level (internal and external).

Memory (RAM)

A temporary storage area is a location for temporary data that allows quick and easy access to stored information and data storage that houses the data the CPU is currently using.

Storage device

a storage system that keeps data on hand permanently. Although slower than RAM, it is less volatile.

power supply unit

It should go without saying that no electronic device can operate without power.

What's the Difference Between Hardware and Software?

Hardware

A computer's physical housing for its processor, memory, storage, communication ports, and add-ons Each of these parts, collectively referred to as "devices," serves a distinct function, which may involve receiving inputs, storing data, or sending outputs.

Input devices, like a mouse and a microphone, are used to capture user activity and convert it into data that is sent to the system unit. A hard disc is a type of storage device from which other devices can access data.

A monitor, printer, and speakers are examples of output devices that convert processed data into a human-readable format. Such devices as a monitor and speakers can be seen and heard by usersco

Software

In a broad sense, "software" refers to all components of a computer that are not strictly physical, such as data, programmes, applications, protocols, etc. Software is essential for receiving, encoding, storing, and processing information, even though it has no physical form.

All executable and non-executable data, including documents, digital files, libraries, and online data, is included in computer software. Software also includes an operating system (OS) and all of a computer's applications.

Software applications are sent to a computer's hardware architecture for reading, interpretation, and execution.

Computers are classified as personal computers (PC), desktop computers, laptop computers, minicomputers, and mainframes All of these computers are designed to store and run the software applications needed to complete tasks on handheld computers.

Smartphones and tablets, which are a type of handheld computer, are able to run software applications as well as those on other devices, mainframes, or supercomputers based on their processing speed, storage capacity, size, portability, and other characteristics.
